RebelSim is able to unlock Firmware 3.0 Beta 2

Posted by Watson on Sunday Apr 5, 2009 Under Announcement, News, Tips

On 2nd April 2009, Apple announce that they are releasing iPhone firmware 3.0 Beta 2. And on the next day (3rd April 2009), RebelSim announce that their RebelSim v61 is still able to unlock this version of firmware and baseband (iPhone Firmware 3.0 Beta 2, Baseband 4.22.01.). This is a good news to those who already got their RebelSim, or those that going to purchase it.

As of now, RebelSim v61 is able to unlock:

- iPhone Firmware 2.2, Baseband 2.28.00 (You don’t need RebelSim, Since Yellowsn0w can do the job for free.)

- iPhone Firmware 2.2.1, Baseband 2.30.03 (You need this, or any other turbosim. No way to unlock 2.2.1 without them, as of today.)

- iPhone Firmware 3.0 Beta 2, Baseband 04.22.01 (I have no heard anything out there can do this, except this one.)

So, If you are thinking of upgrading to Firmware 3.0 Beta 2, AND you successed on the jailbreak with the tool that is mentioned in previous post. You will need this RebelSim v61 to unlock your phone to work with your Mobile Service Provider simcard.

Or, if you had mistakenly upgraded to Firmware 2.2.1 Baseband 2.30.03, or Firmware 3.0 Beta 2, Baseband 4.22.01, this is a choice for you. The down side for this is the RebelSim cost you 10 – 25 pounds (depence the package that you choose), excluding the shipping fee to your country. It is your decision to have your iPhone become an “iPod”, or get one of this to make your iPhone 3G alive again.

Thank you for reading.

    Hi Freeman,

    Sorry to hear about this.

Do you order your RebelSim from UK directly? Have you call and screw them up? Did they provide you any further solution on this?

We are quite interesting to know more about this.

    Thanks for your sharing.

    Hi freeman,

    hahaha.. They sent you everything.

    - ReadTerm_2.0.0.43_setup.rar = ssh client?
    - RebelSetupv63beta.zip = RebelSim Firmware v631 (not release yet)
    - RebelSetupv64beta.zip = RebelSim Firmware v641 (not release yet)
    - iPhoneOS3.rar = iPhone firmware 3.0 ?
    - iphone_os_3.0_beta_2__iphone_3g__7a259g.rar = iPhone firmware 3.0 Beta 2 ?

I think they actually ask yout to try out firmware 3.0 and 3.0 beta 2 on RebelSim v61i, v63i, v64i. Sounds like they also not sure what’s your problem. They just send you everything they have and expect you know what to do with them.

We have no experience on firmware 3.0 therefore not able to provide you any good suggestion. If you are living near by, may be we can have a meet up to try out whether we can help on this by trying with your phone. If you are living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    What do you think?

  9. Foxvision Says:

    Guys,

Do you know where I can get RebelSim please?

Any luck from Low Yat Plaza?

    Thanks,
    Fox

  10. Watson Says:

    Hi Foxvision,

    1) You may online purchase it from UK and ship over here.
    2) You may try LowYat Plaza, but they are not RebelSim (some other brands).
    3) You may try look for Adam (012-2222430). He sell turbosim and second hand iPhone.
    4) Try your luck on the internet (eBay? Lelong? …)

    Thank you.
