iPhone 3.0 Firmware Jailbreak + Unlock by YellowSn0w

All of us have been waiting for YellowSn0w to unlock firmware 2.2.1, and later firmware 3.0.
Now I have a good news to all of us, MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team has finally announced on his Twitter. iPhone OS 3.0 will be unlockable, and MuscleNerd will be doing a live demo of the yellowsn0w 3.0 unlock on the iPhone Dev Team blog and his twitter feed.
iPhone Dev Team software unlock for iPhone 3G running 3.0 firmware (baseband 04.26.08).
So, anyone wanna try out jailbreak and unlock your iPhone firmware 3.0?

Hi,
I am an owner of Iphone 3g that I bought at Low Yat seller earlier this year. Last week, my phone firmware (it is 2.0) crashed while i m using my Opera browser. I don’t really understand what went wrong, except that when I restart my phone back, it instructed me to connect to itune and restore it from there.
Well, I tried to do that, but my itune would not allow me to restore the content of my phone unless I upgrade my phone firmware to the latest version (which I assumed must be firmware ver 3.0 right?)
My question is, if I did restore my iphone using the 3.0 firmware, will I be able to unlock it so that I can use it with my own telco sim card? By the way, I am a celcom subscriber. Can some shops at Low Yat do this for me? From what I read online, I know that an unlocking software for firmware 3.0 called “ultrasn0w” has already been developed. But i don’t know much about computer, so i don’t think i can do it by my own.

Hi Azmi,
If you are doing the restore last week or beginning of this week, you will not get firmware 3.0 from iTune but firmware 2.2.1. Firmware 3.0 is only released 17th June 2009 US Time.
If you are on firmware 2.2.1, you may refer to the previous post “Upgrade and Jailbreak/Unlock your iPhone 2G/3G”.
If you are in firmware 3.0 (that’s only possible if you did a restore after 17th June 2009), then you might need to wait for the jailbreak solution from DEV-TEAM. They may have the solution out by tonight 19th June 2009. Just stay tune.

I own a 1st generation ver 1.1.4 iphone user , i accidently update to version 3.0 at itunes last night and can i use this jailbreak for my iphone ?

Yes you can. You need to download 2 more files:
- Bootloader 3.9
- Bootloader 4.6
You can get it here
Follow the same sequence as in this post, and change as requested in redsn0w.
