Files that required when doing jailbreak and unlock:
1) iPhone 3G iOS4 firmware, download as below:

iOS 4 GM seed – iPhone 3G, 292.3MB

• MultiUpload (direct)
• MegaUpload
• Hotfile
• Zshare
• Badongo
• Uploading

2) Redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5-3, download as below:

• Mac OSX (x86)
• Windows

Jailbreak Steps:
0) BACKUP your DATA on iPhone before proceed further!
1) Restore(in iTunes, press shift+Restore button, look for the iOS4 ipsw files, and click OK) your iPhone 3G to iOS4.
2) Run “redsn0w.exe”, which extracted from the downloaded redsn0w zip file.
3) Select the iOS4 ipsw file, which you used to restore you iPhone 3G just now.
4) Select the options that you would like to enable in the Redsn0w Jailbreak process.
- Recommanded:
— Install Cydia
— Enable multitasking
— Enable homescreen wallpaper
— Enable battery percentage

5) Connect your iPhone 3G to the USB cable, which connected to your PC, switch off your iPhone 3G (press top power button until “slide to power off” message appeared, then slide to power off.). Click NEXT after you done these.
6) Follow instruction on screen:
- Hold down top power button of your iPhone 3G, DON’T release!
- Without releasing power button, hold down Home button for 10 sec (now you know why I ask you not to release the power button).
- Without release Home button, release power button. Keep holding Home button until your iPhone 3G get into the running pineapple screen.
7) Once finished, reboot your iPhone 3G. Your iPhone 3G should now been jailbreaked.

Unlock Steps:
For those who using lock set. Please continue following:
Setup wireless network.
9) Launch Cydia.
10) Add repo: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com.
11) Download and install Ultrasn0w 0.93
12) Reboot your iPhone 3G.

Your iPhone 3G should now been unlocked. You should able to see your ISP network now.

Please read carefully before you start to do anything to your iPhone!!!

As of now (23/06/2010), we know that:
- iPhone 2G is NOT SUPPORTED.
- iPod Touch is NOT SUPPORTED.
- iPod Touch 3G is NOT SUPPORTED.

PwnageTool 4.0 only recognizes the official IPSWs that came out on 21/06/2010. If you had developer access to the “4.0 GM” IPSWs, do not try to use those.

For iPhone 3GS:
- If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS with the OLD BOOTROM and you DID NOT use Spirit to jailbreak then you can create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore with your jailbroken recovery mode.
- If you have an iPhone 3GS with the NEW BOOTROM this is NOT supported by PwnageTool 4.0.

For iPhone 3G:
- If you have a Jailbroken iPhone 3G at 3.1.2 (but not jailbroken with Spirit) then you should create the ipsw with PwnageTool 4.0 and restore from recovery mode or DFU mode.
- If you have an out of the box iPhone 3G you should restore using a PwnageTool 4.0 ipsw using DFU mode.
- If you have a Jailbroken 3.1.3 iPhone 3G it is very possible that this can fail from recovery mode, if this failure happens you will need to restore using DFU mode.
- As an alternative to PwnageTool, you can use redsn0w on iPhone 3G (on both Windows and Mac).

IMPORTANT! Whenever you need to enter DFU mode, you will need to do so using PwnageTool.

Baseband Unlock:
- Ultrasn0w has been updated to cover all basebands from 04.26.08 onward. iPhone 3G and 3GS baseband unlockers (those who rely on ultrasn0w to make phone calls) should always be very wary to update their firmware, however our Ultrasn0w application will unlock all recent (including the current) 3GS and 3G baseband firmware versions. Once you are jailbroken using PwnageTool 4.0, install Ultrasn0w from Cydia and you’ll be unlocked.

Remember! This baseband unlock situation is rare, should you upgrade your iPhone blindly at the next iOS release please don’t expect an unlock.

I am not very happy to close and start another application everytime when I need to get to another application.

Now, I found a tool that make me very happy. ProSwitcher!

To understand what I mean, watch the image & video below.

Video: ProSwitcher, a tool to enable Multitasking on iPhone.

ProSwitcher enable Multitasking on iPhone, you may now launch a few applications and switch between them without closing them down before launch another. Well, the limitation of it, is that the application must able to run at the background.

It is so much easy to use this application compare to the old days backgrounder.

To install ProSwitcher:
1) Connect to WiFi or 3G connection.
2) Launch Cydia (oh yes, you need a jailbreaked set to run this).
3) Add new repo: http://booleanmagic.com/repo
4) Search for “ProSwitcher”
5) Install
6) Respring
7) You have it!

You can change the way you call up the ProSwitcher, ex: Double click Home button; Long press Home button; Slide from buttom of the screen; Slide from the side; etc (Check out Setting / ProSwitcher / Activation Methods).

Apple had release new firmware for iPhone 2g/3g/3gs. Which is version 3.1.3.
As of now (5th Feb 2010), there are NO WAY to unlock version 3.1.3 yet.

So beware, DO NOT Upgrade to firmware 3.1.3 !!! You may just kill your iPhone if you upgrade to 3.1.3.

Apple has announced the fix for the SMS Security Vulnerability, it’s a new firmware, version 3.0.1.

So, we are going to redo the steps you did when you upgrade to firmwares 3.0

Firstly, please make sure you have following files ready:

0) iTunes 8.2.1 (yes, Apple has new version of iTune recently.)

1.1) for iPhone 2G Firmware 3.0.1 – Click here to download
or download using iTune. (Warning! Big File 230MB.)

1.2) for iPhone 3G Firmware 3.0.1 – Click here to download
or download using iTune. (Warning! Big File 230MB.)

1.3) for iPhone 2G, Firmware 3.0 for 2G (please refer to previous post for link)

1.4) for iPhone 3G, Firmware 3.0 for 3G (please refer to previous post for link)

2) RedSn0w version 0.8 Jailbreak tool – Click here to download

3) Wireless Access for you to get UltraSn0w (if you don’t have wireless, there is another way. I’ll try post soon.)

OK! Now you should have all the requirements ready. Let’s do it!

1) Connect your iPhone 3G into your computer.

2) Launch iTunes 8.2.1, make sure you backup your iPhone before continue next step (right click iPhone Name on the left menu and choose “Backup”).

3) iTunes will tell you there is a new version available, ask you whether you want to Update or Restore. If you haven’t download the ipsw, you may download now.

4) For those who download the ipsw yourself, Press Shift Key + Update button.
For those who download the ipsw using iTunes, just press Update button, and skip step 5.

5) You will get a dialog box which ask you to browse to the ipsw file (the firmware 3.0.1 file) you downloaded just now.

6) iTune is now start to update you iPhone with the 3.0.1 firmware, this takes ~10mins.

7) Once it done, you will get the “Connect to iTune” screen on the iphone, just like you get your iPhone on the first day.

Now, with the cable connected, launch redsn0w.exe (unzip the downloaded redsn0w zip file and you will see this file. Please ignore the version on the redsn0w screen, I just re-use old image cox lazy to re-capture, they are visually the same except different version displayed on top).

9) Browse to the Firmware 3.0 ipsw file you downloaded last time. (Yes, 3.0 ipsw, not typing mistake! Why? Because redsn0w doesn’t work for 3.0.1 yet, but point to 3.0 it works.)

10) redsn0w will ask you to turn off your iPhone before begin Jailbreak, do it by press the power button and slide to power off it.

11) Get ready for the next steps (get ready means place your finger on the power button and home button location before continue.):

a – click Next button
b – press Power button for 2 sec
c – DO NOT release Power button, + press Home button for 10 sec
d – release Power button but NOT release Home button, continue 30 sec
e – Once you iPhone rebooted and start jailbreaking, you can release the Home button.

12) The jailbreak will take ~10 mins.

13) OK! Now you iPhone is jailbreaked. You can “Slide to Unlock” now. Er. still without ISP Network.

14) Now, go into Settings. then Wi-Fi.

15) Setup and Connect onto your Wireless Network.

16) Go to second page of your Apps list, run Cydia.

17) Cydia will close for the first time initialize, start it again.

18) in Cydia, go into Manage. Press “Sources”.

19) Add repo “repo666.ultrasn0w.com”, please note the sn0w is Zero instead of Capital O.

20) in Cydia, go into Search.

21) type in “Ultra”, Ultrasn0w will be the list.

22) download and install Ultrasn0w.

23) reboot your iPhone.

24) Once iPhone booted up, it will get connected.

25) Done! Congratulation!

You do not need to Restore you data since you are updating your iPhone this time. Your Contact, songs, SMS, … will be still there.

Using a flaw they’ve found in the iPhone’s handling of text messages, the researchers say they’ll demonstrate how to send a series of mostly invisible SMS bursts that can give a hacker complete power over any of the smart phone’s functions. Security researchers Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner have notified Apple about the vulnerability over a month ago, Apple has now came out with the fix for this Security Vulnerability, on firmware 3.0.1.

Charlie Miller would suggest you turn the device off as quickly as possible if you happen to receive an SMS text message containing only a single square character. Or, upgrade your iPhone.

Before you start any steps below, please get ready following things:

0) iTune 8.2
1) iPhone 3G Firmware 3.0 – Click here to download (Warning! Big File 230MB.)
2) RedSn0w Jailbreak tool – Click here to download
